Cultivating the next generation of theatre artists and enthusiasts

The Holmdel Theatre Company has a distinctive mission to bring students together with professional actors, set designers and directors. Our goal is to create an innovative environment that allows for hands-on education and mentoring. Whether on the stage or behind the scenes, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of actors, directors, designers and stage crew.

The HTC casts some roles for most of our main stage productions from students at the middle school and high school level. This is a rare and amazing opportunity for students to work alongside professional adult actors and directors. When new emerging talent rubs elbows with our established members and our highly accomplished equity guest performers, a special electricity is generated that is uniquely ours.

We offer internships to high school and college students in both production and administration. Interns work side-by-side with industry professionals to receive practical training in technical theatre or administrative management. We ask for nothing more than a willingness to work hard and high standards of performance. In return, interns are treated as members of our professional staff and receive intensive hands-on experience.

The goal of the workshops is to provide a voice for each student and tools that they can take with them and use throughout their lifetime. Familiarity with these tools is necessary for a successful performer, but the skills learned in the acting component also translate directly into the workplace and everyday life. Not only do students build a solid foundation in the arts, but they also build self-confidence, enhance self-esteem, develop communication skills and have fun discovering and exploring their talents.
