2-DAY Teen Acting Workshop / Character and Scene Exploration

Dates: 2 Saturdays, Nov 8 & 15
Times: 10am – 12pm
Using the body, voice and mind to create dynamic and believable characters, students will develop and strengthen their theatrical skills. Script work, improvisation, and monologue work will all be incorporated. This workshop is designed to help young actors find their voice, both literally and figuratively.
Melanie Taylor has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of theatre, and for the past 17 years has shared her knowledge as a teacher at Raritan High School. She is an accomplished and award winning director, stage manager, and makeup artist. Melanie is the Vice-President of the New Jersey Drama and Forensics League, and is the Artistic Director/Co-Founder of the former St. John’s Community Playhouse in Hazlet, and current Artistic Director/Co-Founder of Stage Left Players in Hazlet.

Our mission is to help you unleash your imaginations onto the blank page and discover the fun that can come from writing! The Story Pirates Creative Writing Program consists of a four-week series of writing workshops that culminate in a musical sketch comedy show in which students’ stories are performed by professional artists.
Story Pirates is a nationally respected education and media organization, founded in 2003 to celebrate the words and ideas of young people. Working with over 150 schools coast-to-coast, Story Pirates arts and literacy programs create confident, literate students equipped with a variety of tools for written, verbal, and artistic skills that they carry into adulthood. The group has been featured on “The Daily Show” and “Larry King Live.”
