In an artsy small town, an unlikely collection of strangers sign up for Marty’s “Adult Creative Drama” class. Unfolding like a charmingly funny indie film, the group plays Marty’s imaginative (and sometimes awkward) theatre games. As their relationships develop over the course of the summer, the seemingly silly games generate some real-life drama. This delightful comedy from new playwright Annie Baker landed on Top Ten lists of The New York Times and The New Yorker for 2010.

Every sitcom ever written can trace its lineage to Moliere, the French comic master who lampoons hypocrisy on all sides while letting us in on the joke. First performed in 1673, this fast-moving “comédie-ballet” treats the timely subject of healthcare, skewering gullible patients and the “doctors” who prey on them. Love, mistaken identity, foppery, slapstick, and a dash of cross-dressing are the cure for what ails you in “The Imaginary Invalid.”

Aaron Sorkin (Moneyball, The Social Network, The West Wing) wrote the captivating courtroom drama, which ran for nearly 500 performances on Broadway in 1989, became an Oscar-nominated film in 1992 and was re-conceived for a 2005 London revival. Originally inspired by true events, this taut, tense thriller erupts when two Marines are accused of the hazing death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay. This hard-hitting, suspenseful story puts the Marine code of honor on trial.
